The deep velvet luster of this sunflower suggests its lofty station in the royal garden hierarchy. Its maroon flower heads nod, turn, and wave regally from their high thrones as they follow the sun's arc across the summer sky. Growing Instructions
Direct sow after frost. This queen casts shade, so consider smaller plants in the vicinity when planting. Good soil and plenty of water result in the largest plants, but sunflowers are tenacious and succeed in less than ideal conditions. To save seeds, cover ripe flower heads with paper bags to keep the birds off.
