Brad has been with Gertens for 4 years (so far) and has risen to the position of Assistant Manager of Trees. He holds a bachelor's degree in Ecology and continues to broaden his knowledge.

A hardy native species that exhibits dark green, pyramidal growth. Tolerates moist soil and some shade. Pleasantly fragrant foliage.
Eastern Red Cedar (Juniperus viginiana)
A native species of cedar with varying shades of green foliage. Bronze overtones over the winter months. High heat and drought tolerance.
The largest and fastest growing of all spruce carried at Gertens. Pyramidal when young, with pendulous branching with age.
A native Spruce with a narrow conical and dense habit when young, becoming more open with age. Black Hills Spruce ‘Densata’ is the go-to for specimen planting, wind breaks, or mass plantings.
Eastern White Pine (Pinus strobus)
A large, graceful, wide spreading native pine with long, slender blue-green needles. Fast growing with an overall “soft” appearance.
The State Tree of Minnesota. Also known as Norway Pine. This pine has scaly, reddish-brown bark that grows best in dry, exposed sites and is well suited for slopes and windbreaks.
White Cedar (Thuja occidentalis)
Native White Cedar. Very hardy, fast growth rate and grass-green foliage. Mature trees develop a wonderful foliage texture. Excellent for screening purposes, windbreaks and wildlife habitat. Multiple cultivars provide a highly varied choice when selecting.
Japanese Yew (Taxus cuspidata)
Broad and upright growing with dark green foliage. Perfectly suited for plantings in partial to full shade. Slow growing.
A hardy and adaptable species often used as a specimen in gardens. The cultivar ‘Tannenbaum’ is often used for its stately appearance and dark green needles.
Rocky Mountain Juniper (Juniperus scopulorum)
A hardy species found naturally in the higher altitudes of the Rocky Mountains. All cultivars exhibit a bright green-blue foliage year-round. ‘Wichita Blue’ presents a fantastic specimen tree.
