Tip 1: Tip Count
When searching for the most realistic artificial tree, the key factor is tip count, noted by the number of tip points on a tree. More tips make for a fuller life-like tree. When price comparison shopping, look for the most tips.
Tip 2: Light Count and Assembly
Light count and type of light will reflect the final cost. LEDs are more vibrant, more durable, and use less electricity so they cost less to operate. Unlit artificial trees offer more flexibility. You may choose different themes for lighting from year to year, add more or less lights allowing for additional ornaments. An unlit tree will cut the cost and Gertens Christmas Store offers a wide variety of lights and ornaments for you to create your perfect tree.
For assembly, most trees come in 3-5 sections, and are coded with letters. With pre-lit cords, coding is by colors or numbers to indicate where they are to be plugged in, making assembly a snap.

Tip 3: Shape Your Branches
Most artificial Christmas trees require some shaping of the branches when they come out of the box to create a full look. We also carry artificial Christmas trees that have been manufactured to be "ready-shaped" out of the box. Quality Gertens artificial trees come with metal frames and hinged construction. The branches are connected to the trunk with a hinge allowing you to simply fold down the branch into place. Please refer to our tutorial video for more information on shaping.
Tip 4: Know What Height You Want
Height is also an important factor. There are standard sizes with the most common standing 7.5 ft. tall. Most homes have 8 ft. ceilings. This size tree will have the most variety of styles available. The other standard sizes are 4.5 ft., 6.5 ft. and 9 ft. trees. Gertens also offers a limited number of 10-12 ft. artificial trees. Be sure to account for the height of your Tree Topper!
Tip 5: Trouble Shooting Lighting Issues
Your Christmas tree is up, you plug it in but find a string of lights not working. Now what? In the videos below, Karen takes you through the troubleshooting processes for both LED and Incandescent lighting.
Tip 6: Storage
Storing Gertens artificial Christmas trees is easy. Carefully take the sections apart, gently pack them into the box. Compress the tree carefully as not to damage the light strands or bulbs. Even easier is to purchase storage bags. Save space without the bulky box!
