This is the time we are full-on planning, prepping, digging, planting, buying and trying to figure out where we’re going to put all those plants we bought!!! ????
And, of course, the “must have” equipment!
With a spring in our step and a trowel in hand, we’re planting summer flowering bulbs like dahlias and gladiolus. There are potatoes and onion sets, cool season vegetables may already be peeking out from the ground.
May is when we can start putting out our warm season vegetables. With climate change, the frost dates have changed, however, you still need to pay attention to the weather. A bit more on how to avoid problems with tomatoes.

Cage ‘em up and mulch ‘em
If we dip below 40 degrees for cool season plants and 50 degrees for warm season plants, you must consider covering them. They might not die without cover, but they won’t be happy! Use a floating row cover or a sheet.
Floating row cover – there are hoops with it but draping works! Granted, this is a fall picture, but you catch my drift!
