• Oak Barrels are an an ideal option for a long-lasting, large-capacity recycled planter.
• Our reclaimed genuine wine barrels are made of oak slats with iron bands.
• The coloring inside the barrel will vary depending on the barrel’s origin; the exterior will age to silvery grey.
• When the barrel’s wood dries, the slats shrink; when filled with potting soil and watered regularly, the slats swell, closing space between them and becoming water-tight.
• We recommend drilling holes in the bottom your barrel to ensure proper drainage.
• Heavy-duty black plastic spill-liners can be purchased for vertical half-barrels to prevent wood from rotting over time.
