Description

Echinocactus grusonii

This is a species of barrel catcus that can live up to,and can even pass, 25 years of age. At full size, this plant can even reach 3 feet across in diameter. It can produce a lovely yellow bloom, but it is rare for it to do so. This plant needs a sunny location where it can get at least 4 hours of bright sunlight.

Details

This cactus need infrequent watering to keep the soil moist. Well draining soil will prevent root rot. Water less frequently during the winter months.

For soil needs, well draining and sandy is a must. Use a cactus mix fertizlier during the growing season. Repot the cactus every few years or when the roots start coming out of the drainage holes. Repot at the beggining of the growing season if able.

Golden Barrel Cactus can sometimes produce a flower, or even a fruit. the seeds from that fruit can be planted to create more cacti.
