When should I start growing vegetables seeds?

Starting times will vary depending on the vegetable you are growing. Each seed packet will have specific sowing instructions for that type of vegetable. Some plants, such as tomatoes and peppers, should be started indoors, 6-8 weeks before the last frost, which in Minnesota is generally the first week of May. Other vegetables, such as squash, melons, and cucumbers, need to be started outside after all danger of frost has passed. Read your seed packet carefully to get the best sowing time!
