Should I give my shrubs food/fertilizer?

If they were purchased from Gertens and planted this season, do not fertilize. There is a slow-release fertilizer in all the containers Gertens sells that is good for the season. After the first year, if you desire to fertilize your shrubs, do it in spring, using a basic 10-10-10 fertilizer, or one specifically formulated for shrubs. If the shrub is showing signs of lack of nutrition, stop in to Gertens and talk to our lawn and garden department and they can recommend more specialized fertilizer for specific deficiencies.
