How do I keep birds from flying into your windows?
It is not unusual to see a bird fly into a window. Large window glass can increase the chance that a bird can mistakenly strike the glass and be injured or even perish. Birds are convinced that they are flying into an open space. One solution is to stick a decal onto the window to show the bird that a surface exists. If a bird happens to strike a window and falls to the ground, carefully move the stunned bird to a safe area while the bird becomes fully recovered and can fly off.
Another way to help a stunned bird is to place it in a shoebox with dime size holes punched in. Place the bird in the shoebox with the lid on and leave it alone for about 10 minutes occasionally checking on it by slowly lifting the lid. Make sure you're either outside doing this or in a small bathroom area where the bird can't fly loose. Many times the bird will come around, but if you see an injured bird that can't fly the best way to help it recover is taking it to the Wildlife Rehab Center.
