FOR USE ON: Use on all berries – Blueberries, Strawberries & Raspberries 

WHEN TO USE: Feed twice per year ~ Early Spring and late Spring (45-60 days after early spring application). Never apply fertilizer to frozen soils.

HOW MUCH TO USE:

  • Individual Plants: 1 cup per foot of branch spread. Double the quantity if branch spread is three feet or larger.
  • Beds: Preparation of new bed: Mix 10 lbs. per 100 square feet and incorporate into the top four or five inches of soil. Feed established beds 5 lbs. per 100 square feet.

HOW TO APPLY: Sprinkle the recommended amount around the drip line and water thoroughly.  If the area is mulched either temporarily remove the mulch and feed or double the rate on top of the mulch.

Both apple and cherry have shown to be the most successful for producing fruit in Minnesota.
Do not start any type of fertilizer regime for young seedlings until they have at least two full sets of regular leaves. Start with a root stimulator, then after a month you may move on to a gentle, weak (half strength) water-based fertilizer. Remember...
1) Nitrogen (leaf development, top growth) 2) Phosphorus (roots and blooms) 3) Potassium aka Potash (roots).  To shop Gertens fertilizer options, click here
Use a bloom enhancing fertilizer, make sure it has a high level of phosphorus (middle number of NPK) for full blooms.
The recommended root stimulator for Hydrangeas would be the Plant Starter Solution (4-10-3).
Use a slow-release plant food in spring, April to May. Read the label for application, water well and the fertilizer will feed the plant for the rest...
