Keep soil moist, but not soaked. Water when the top inch of soil is dry. A well draining soil will reduce the chance of overwatering. This plant can benefit from some additional humidity, but does fine in a normal household environment.

This plant likes a well draining acidic chunky soil. Mixes with peat moss, perlite and orchid part are idea. Feed it fertilizer every two weeks during the growning season. When blooms have finished, pause the fertilizing routine until new leaves start growing again. Repot every few years to refresh soil, and only expand the pot size when nessisary, as these plants do not mind being root bound.

Holiday Cacti will sometimes skip flowering if their environment has changed. To encourange blooms, place the plant in a cool, dark area from 12 to 14 hours for about 6 weeks. For propigation, cut lengths of 3-5 sections, and let the cut end callus over before placing the cutting into soil. Use a dome or wrap for the new plants to increase humidity and encourage rooting for the new cuttings.
