Drosera Capensis 'Octopus Plant'
Description
If you are looking for a truly one-of-a-kind plant, then the Octopus Plant or Drosera capensis is for you. Long, thin leaves have small red bristles or tendrils at the ends. These tendrils produce a sticky substance that is used to trap insects. Once the Octopus Plant has an insect in its clutches, the leaf will fold around the bug to digest it. This carnivorous plant blooms and sends up flower spikes covered in clusters of blooms. Humidity and light are essential for Octopus Plants, so choose a spot with lots of both.
Octopus Plants do not need fertilizer, but they still need to eat. Plants that successfully trap insects can take care of themselves. You can supplement the plant's nutrition by feeding it fresh or freeze-dried insects when it cannot trap bugs. Feed the Octopus Plant insects every 10 to 14 days.Direct from the Grower
