Description

Calathea roseopicta

A true showstopper with velvety, dark green leaves accented by bright pink stripes and veins. Dramatially folds its leaves in the the evening to open them up again as the sun rises. Noted for being a fussy plant, this 20 inch tall beauty will reward you with its stunning show of colorful leaves. Keep this plant in a dimmer area of the house, but not too far away from natural light.

Details

Watering with distilled water or rain water is a must. Keep this plant's soil moist, but not soaked. A well draining soil will reduce overwatering. This plant will also benefit from higher humidity.

This plant prefers an evenly moist, aerated soil mix. Fertilize very lightly during the growing season. Repot every 1-2 years to refresh the soil and to adjust the pot size for this plant if it is needed.

Propagation is possible via dividing the clumps as the plant grows larger. Increase watering before dividing the plant for the best chance at succesful propagation. This plant is non toxic and safe to have around pets and humans.
