Alocasia Brancifolia
Description
Alocasia brancifolia is native to New Guinea and the northern Maluku Islands. It is a large species and grows to about 100 to 150 cm tall, but usually remains somewhat smaller. The leaves grow to about 50 cm long and 30cm wide. They are very conspicuous, deeply divided and resemble the leaves of a fern. The petioles are light/dark green striped and spotted, reminiscent of Alocasia zebrina. When old, the species forms an upright trunk and can thus reach a significantly greater overall height.
